Time to get prepared

national-weather-preparedness-month-2

September is National Weather Preparedness month.

Knox County Emergency Management Agency Director John Streeter says taking a few steps towards readiness can help all of us stay safer in times of emergency.

Streeter says threats of tornadoes, severe thunderstorms, flooding and even snow are all common in Indiana during various times of the year. He says its important that families and businesses also take time to develop a plan of action should dangerous weather occur.

Streeter adds there’s also the potential for earthquakes as Southwestern Indiana sits along the New Madrid fault line. He says its a good idea to know what do in the event of a quake and have supplies on hand should stores close  and other essentials like water and electricity are affected.

Streeter also encourages Knox County Residents to sign up for Code Red Weather Warnings.
