Prosecutors are seeking a sentence of life without parole for a southern Indiana man accused of abducting and killing a 1-year-old girl.

WRTV-TV reports the Owen County Prosecutor’s office requested the sentence Monday in its case against Kyle Parker of Spencer. He’s charged with murder, rape and kidnapping in the slaying of Shaylyn Ammerman.

The girl was abducted from her crib at her paternal grandmother’s house in Spencer before dawn on March 23. Parker had been drinking at the house with Shaylyn’s uncle and step-grandfather. Her body was found the next day along the White River near Gosport, about 40 miles southwest of Indianapolis.

Parker is expected back in court Oct. 5 for a pretrial conference.
