Two area residents face marijuana charges

A Washington man and Petersburg woman were arrested in Terre Haute Monday after officers located over 11-pounds of marijuana in the car they were driving.

Police say 24-year-old Garrett Morley of Washington and 22-Year-old Stephanie Renault of Petersburg are facing charges of dealing marijuana and possession of marijuana. A West Terre Haute Police officer stopped the car along Interstate 70 Monday evening. While talking to the couple, the officer noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After calling for assistance, officers located and seized 11-pounds of marijuana that been vaccum sealed in bags and concealed in the vehicles truck. Morley and Renault told police they had went to Colorado to purchase the marijuana and were bringing it back to Indiana. Authorities estimated the street value of the marijuana seized at 25-thousand dollars.
