Helping His Hands Disaster Response team remains on the scene in Louisiana assisting local residents with clean-up from recent storms.

Director Scott Shipman says many homeowners lost everything due to flooding. He says the devastation is visible everywhere you look.

Shipman and his crew of volunteers have been tearing out drywall and insulation from houses. However, he says it will be weeks before repairs can begin.

Shipman added that health officials are using a chemical spray to kill any black mold that may have formed inside the houses.

Shipman says they hope to post pictures online soon of school supplies and clean-up kits that were distributed to area residents.

He says they plan on making another trip back to Louisiana in the near future.

In the meantime, persons wishing to assist can go to Niehaus Lumber on Main Street in Vincennes and purchase a clean-up kit which they can then donate to Helping His Hands.

You can also make a monetary donation by texting 4-1-4-4-4 to H-H-H. Shipman says all online donations are secure.
