Knox County Courthouse will close Thursday for funeral

Knox County farmer and County Commissioner Rowe Sargent has passed away after battling cancer.

He was 80-years-old. Sargent served on numerous boards and civic organizations including the Knox County Chamber of Commerce.

Chamber President Marc McNeece called Sargent a nice man who took care of his family and worked for the betterment of the community.

This past spring Sargent was presented the Sagamore of the Wabash Award by Governor Mike Pence. The award is the highest honor the state can bestow on a Hoosier Citizen for service to his or her community.

Sargent’s funeral will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Bethel Church in Freelandville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3-8 p.m. Knox County Auditor Lisa Madden has announced that the courthouse will be closed on Thursday to allow attendance to the funeral.
