According to the Washington Times Herald, Rich & Darvin Yoder have partnered with the Three Nails Project, a Knox County-based disaster relief organization, to load a semi-trailer full of supplies for victims in Louisiana.

Darvin said a semi-tractor from T. S. Boyd Grain, a trailer from Sternberg, Inc., and donated fuel from Graber Post Buildings, has made it possible to head south.

At least 13 people have died from the Louisiana flooding, and authorities there are still going door-to-door looking for more. Over 85,000 people have registered for federal disaster assistance, more than 30,000 have been rescued and an estimated 40,000 homes have been damaged in southern Louisiana.

The partners in the flood-relief project are asking for the local public’s help to fill the trailer with needed items. The trailer will be parked at Interior Furniture and Appliance Gallery, 744 S. SR 57, Washington, with drop-off times til 6 p.m. each night through Friday. (Leaving date will be announced at a later time)

Organizers are asking that no bottled water be donated. Portable drinking water has been trucked in for the victims already, and the weight of water can make the semi-trailer too heavy.

Three Nails Project, headed up by Bob Morrison, is sending a disaster response team to Baton Rouge to serve in the recovery effort. In flood cleanup, Morrison said volunteers typically start tearing out wallboard and insulation up to where the water came, and then spray the area with bleach. The stench in the flooded areas can be overpowering, but Morrison is excited about the opportunity to help.
