Eileene Estella Rose, 85 of Vincennes

Eileene Estella Rose, 85, of Vincennes, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital.

She was born February 22, 1931 in Hastings, Iowa to Lawrence Allen and Helen Eileene (Judah) Jones.
Eileene attended schools in Hastings and Red Oak and graduated in 1949 from Hastings High School. She grew up around her grandparents, Veva and William, who were of French, Indian (Sioux) and Irish descent and a number of aunts and uncles – 5 to be exact. She spent a lot of time on her grandparents’ farm and also lived there with her brother Orlo.
She then traveled by train to Oregon and lived in Eugene, Oregon with her mother Helen, her stepfather, Carl Schneider, and her sister Evelyn. While there she made a best friend, Irene Berlin and worked at Meadowland Dairy. She moved to Vincennes and began working for Fulton Glass Company where she met “Jack” as he worked for Blackford Glass. They were married on April 2, 1960 and their one child was born in August of 1963.
Upon Blackford’s closing, they moved to Wichita, KS, living there, in Haysville and Goddard. They attended Pawnee Ave. Church of God and also helped and lived at Camp Fellowship in Goddard before returning to Vincennes in 1986. Most recently she has lived at Colonial Assisted Living in Vincennes, and Oak Village in Oaktown.
Though she was brought up Methodist Episcopalian, Eileene was a member of the Frist Church of God after marrying “Jack”.  She had served as a girl scout leader and was known as an excellent baker, being known for her cakes, pies, bread, and cookies.
Surviving is her daughter, Lesley Pearson and her husband Scott of Vincennes; her step children, Larry Rose and his wife Jeanie of Winter Haven, FL, and Gary Rose and his companion Becky Woolard of Vincennes; her sister, Evelyn Stephens of Coos Bay Oregon; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Reinitz and her husband Erick, Catherine Pearson, Rebecca Pearson, Regan Rose, Rylan Rose, Gary William Rose, and David Rose; and her great grandchildren, Aaliyah LeAnn Davis, Logan Rose, Colten Rose, and Justin Rose.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Harold “Jack” Rose; her parents, Lawrence Allen Jones and Helen Eileene Schneider; and her brother, Orlo Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday August 25, 2016 at the First Church of God with Rev. Georg Karl and Rev. Fred Nocus officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9 am until the service time on Thursday.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Food Pantry or Generations.  Online condolences may be made at www.goodwinfamilyfh.com
