The Vincennes City Council will resume their budget deliberations this evening starting at 5 at City Hall.
Among those expected to make presentations include the City Engineer’s office, Police Department, Parks and Recreation and Mayor Joe Yochum. The mayor has requested department heads include a 3-percent pay raise for city workers in next year’s budget. Council is also looking to earmark funding to continue improvements to city streets and sidewalks. This is just the initial step in the budget process. Once the presentations are completed the real number crunching begins to make sure revenue streams match budget projections. All municipal budgets must also undergo further scrutiny by the state board of Local Government and Finances.
