Al Whipple, age 78 of Lawrenceville, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016 in Vincennes, IN at the Good Samaritan Hospital. 

He was born February 16, 1938 in Halsey, OR to Edward Whipple and Mildred (Blevins) Whipple Streets.

He married Letha Crose in Alamosa, CO on November 1, 1993, and she survives.

Al proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1962-1970 as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War. He worked as a truck driver for many years. Al also worked at the Wal-Mart in Alamosa, CO and in Lawrenceville.

Surviving family includes: his wife- Letha Whipple of Lawrenceville: four daughters- Wanda Woodring and husband Keith of Oregon, Christine Whipple of Norway, Nicole Schmidt of Pueblo, Co, and Tara Decker and husband Eric of Alamosa, CO: four sons- Martin Whipple and Alan Whipple both of Oregon, Roy Lee Castleberry, Jr. and Brandon Castleberry and wife Dawn all of Alamosa, CO: one sister- Emma Jean Neel and husband Richard Gene of Lawrenceville: three brothers- Larry McKinley of Oregon, Jim Whipple and wife Lolita and Kenny Whipple all of California: twenty eight grandchildren: and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, one sister (Loretta Martinez), and two brothers (Gordon Whipple and Ronnie Streets).
