The Vincennes Fourth of July committee has announced this year’s “Spirit of ‘76” honoree is Jim Osborne.  Osborne has been an avid military collector and historian all his life. In 1982, he was instrumental in the establishment of the Indiana Military Museum as a not-for-profit corporation for the purpose of preserving and displaying significant military artifacts and memorabilia relating to U.S. military history. In 2012, the Museum moved to its present location on South Sixth Street Road.

In 2013, Osborne was presented the Citizen of the Year awarded by the Vincennes Civitan Club. His community service includes involvement with Vincennes Kiwanis Club, Salvation Army, and Vincennes University Foundation Board.

Osborne will be honored on Monday, July 4th with a reception at the Harmony Society.
