A Daviess County contractor has been awarded a contract for the installation of new storm water lines in Bicknell.

The Bicknell City Council awarded the contract to United Excavating of Montgomery. The company’s bid of just over 819-thousand dollars was the low bidder of four received on the project. Others submitting quotes included Kerns Excavating, Milestone Contractors and Infrastructure Systems. Bicknell received a grant for 870-thousand dollars through the Office of Rural and Community Affairs to install the new storm water lines. Mayor Tom Estabrooke says the city still needs to secure temporary easements from some property owners before construction can begin. Estabrooke says the storm water improvements include work at 8th and Alexander, 3rd and Mary Streets, Fourth and Thomas, and 10th Street between Washington and Miami.
