Homer Cordell Folmnsbee, age 91 of Lawrenceville and formerly of Bridgeport, passed away at his home with his wife and children by his side on Monday, June 27, 2016. 

He was born September 16, 1924 in Eldorado, KS to Chester Edward Folmnsbee and his wife Agnes (Ross) Folmnsbee.

He married Melba Jean Ash in Roxbury, KS on November 4, 1943, and she survives.

Homer proudly served his country during WWII as a member of the United States Army. Homer worked for W.C. McBride Inc. Oil Company and KWB Oil Company before his retirement in 1987. As an active and long-time member of the First Christian Church of Bridgeport, he served as an Elder, Deacon, and Trustee. He also served on the Bridgeport Fire Protection Department for over 30 years.

Surviving family includes: his wife of 72 years- Melba Folmnsbee of Lawrenceville: one son- Curtis Cordell Folmnsbee and wife Pam of Bethalto, IL: one daughter- Rebecca Jean Nestleroad and husband Gary of Bridgeport: one brother- Bruce Folmnsbee: six grandchildren- Scott Folmnsbee and wife Sarah, Matthew Folmnsbee and wife Polly, Rusty Folmnsbee and wife Jodi, Lori Miller and husband Jacob, Megan Cochran and husband Arron, and Tanner Nestleroad and wife Tara: and 11 great-grandchildren and one on the way- Briana Coleman and husband Ben, Matthew Folmnsbee, Jr., Mason and Tyler Folmnsbee, Emmalynn and Alaina Folmnsbee, Karli, Gracie, and Griffin Miller, and Liza and Cora Smith: and one great-great-granddaughter- Bella Folmnsbee.

He was preceded in death by: his parents- Chester and Agnes Folmnsbee: two brothers- Chester, Jr. and Eldon Folmnsbee: and two sisters in infancy.

A funeral service for Homer Folmnsbee will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place in the Bridgeport City Cemetery. Military rites will be given at the cemetery.
