The Vincennes Fire Department has raised the money needed to purchase a water rescue boat. Fire Chief Sonny Pinkstaff told Vincennes City Council members they received a $10,000 grant from the Vanderburgh County Community Foundation, and a $6,000 grant from WIN Energy. The rest of the money needed, approximately $10,900, was obtained through private donations bringing their grand total to just under $27,000. The money raised is just enough to purchase a main water rescue boat and trailer. Pinkstaff says they are looking for additional money to equipe the boat as needed for water rescue operations.

A Vincennes firefighter injured while fighting a recent house fire is recovering.  Vincennes Fire Chief Sonny Pinkstaff told members of the City Council Monday that firefighter Adam Ray will need at least 4-to-6 months of therapy after having surgery to repair his injured right leg. Ray was injured while battling a structure fire at 710 N. 11th Street in early June. Pinkstaff says Ray needed 9 screws and a plate inserted in his leg to repair the damage, but he is expected to make a full recovery.  Pinkstaff says he’s the fourth firefighter whose been injured since the first of the year.
