If you believe that you bake the best fruit pie in Indiana, well come out to the Vincennes farmer’s market and prove it!

A fruit pie contest is being held at the Riverfront Pavillion in celebration of the state’s Bicentennial. Farmer’s market board member, Linda Ruppel, believes a fruit pie contest is a great way to celebrate Indiana’s history.

There are a few rules bakers must follow to be eligible for the contest. The pie must contain fruit that is commonly grown in Indiana’s farm fields and any pie needing refrigeration will not be allowed. A copy of the recipe, completed entry form, and a $5 fee is required. Participant’s can bring their pies to the Farmer’s Market between 8-10 AM on July 2nd to compete in the contest. The champion receives a blue ribbon and a custom made apron declaring them the winner of the best fruit pie in Indiana. For more information, please contact Linda Ruppel at 812-899-0258.
