Three churches will house Riley students during construction work

The Vincennes School Corporation has finalized leases with three area churches to provide classroom space while Riley Elementary is under construction this fall.

Washington Christian Center, Free Methodist and Community Methodist churches have agreed to house students when classes resume in August.

Meanwhile, Architect Andy Myszak provided the school board this morning with an update. Myszak says Riley is completely gutted and renovation work will begin once an air quality check is performed to make sure asbestos has been completely removed from the building.

Myszak says there’s also major construction going on at the other three elementary schools which includes changing the traffic patterns around the schools.

Myszak says there hope is to have Tecumseh-Harrison and Vigo finished before the start of school. He says Franklin is a little larger project but they have a contingency plan in place to accommodate traffic in the event the work isn’t finished when classes resume.
