Lawrence County, Illinois man found guilty in a 2015 credit union robbery.

A Bridgeport, Illinois, man was convicted in U.S. Federal Court this week of armed robbery. A jury found 68-year-old Elmer Wiman  guilty of holding up the Heritage Federal Credit Union in Evansville on March 17th of last year. Indiana State Police arrested Wiman following a traffic stop northeast of Haubstadt shortly after the robbery occurred. Troopers found fire arms and over 3-thousand dollars in cash in Wiman’s vehicle. Wiman later told police that he robbed the credit union in order to get money to cover his bills. Wiman faces up to 20 years for robbery, 10 years for being a felon in possession of a firearm, and up to life in prison for use of a firearm during a crime of violence.
