Firefighters were called out to a house fire at 710 N. 11th street around 1 am.

A Vincennes Firefighter was injured while battling a structure fire early this morning.

Fire Chief Sonny Pinkstaff says fireman Adam Ray suffered a fractured right leg injury while battling the blaze.

Ray was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and later transferred to an Indianapolis hospital for surgery. His condition is unknown at this time.

Pinkstaff said the house was vacant and was on the list of blighted homes scheduled to be demolished.

Heat from the fire caused damage to adjoining homes on each side of the vacant house.

At this time the cause of the fire is undetermined. An investigator from the State Fire Marshall’s office has been called in to assist with the investigation.
