Commons Cause wants to address gerrymandering….

Vincennes City Councilman Duane Chattin plans to introduce a resolution at tonight’s council meeting in support of Common Cause of Indiana, a government watchdog group seeking to tighten up the process state lawmakers use every 10-years to redraw the lines of statehouse and congressional distircts.

Chattin tells the Vincennes Sun-Commercial the proposal by Common Cause would clearly define how those lines can be drawn, Common Cause is asking cities and towns to pass resolutions in support of the effort.

Whatever party happens to be in control, Chattin says they use that process as a chance to make the districts even more favorable to the majority party.

The City Council meets at 6 pm at City Hall.

Also on the Council’s agenda are requests for additional approporiations from Riverboat and EDIT Funds.
