kcdc-3-3

New board will be tasked with seeking out grants……..

The Knox County Development Corporation’s Board of Directors has approved plans to move forward with creating a new 501-C-3 board.

The board will consist of 7 members including representatives from local business and industry. KCDC Executive Director Kent Utt says the 501-C-3 desgination is used by not-for-profit groups. It will enable the newly formed board to seek out grants for workforce development initatives like the OCRA grant KCDC collaborated on with Sullivan and Gibson Counties. That grant provided funding for unemployed workers to take classes in manufacturing maintanence and heavy equipment training.

The newly titled board will be called the Knox County Workforce and Economic Development Corporation. Utt will serve as an Ex-offcio and Non-voting member.
