The Knox County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate a weekend incident that claimed the life of a Knox County woman.

Knox Co. Sheriff Mike Morris says the incident began Sunday evening at 6:36, when 44-year old Kevin Pickett made a call to 911 regarding a woman who “fell out of a vehicle.”  Officers were dispatched to his residence at Beech Hills, south of Monroe City.

When officers arrived they discover 26-year old Patricia Grostefon with severe head trauma. She was airlifted to an Evansville hospital, where she died from her injuries on Monday.

Morris says Grostefon was living with Pickett at the residence.

Morris says the investigation into the incident revealed that the couple had been involved in a domestic situation in Vincennes earlier Sunday.  The couple then got into a vehicle and drove out of town.  That’s when Grostefon allegedly attempted to jump from the vehicle on Hillcrest Road, severely striking her head.  Morris says Pickett loaded the victim back into the vehicle and drove to their home in Beech Hills, before calling 911.

An autopsy is being performed on Grostefon.  Detectives also continue to interview witnesses of the domestic incident in Vincennes.  A search warrant was also executed on the home in Beech Hills.

Pickett was arrested and faces a long list of serious charges.

Charges include:
