As part of the state’s bicentennial celebration, the public is invited to view Birth of a State: The Indiana Exhibit at the Old Cathedral Library and Museum in Vincennes. The exhibition is available to be seen from May 20th through June 5th and is open from 1 to 4 p.m.

The showcase of Indiana’s historical artifacts and documents features the original 1816 and 1851 Indiana Constitutions, as well as the original state flag. The museum also displays original paintings of William Henry Harrison and the Fall of Fort Sackville.

Jim Corridan, State Archivist and Director of Indiana Archives and Records Administration, says this is a unique opportunity for Vincennes residents.

The exhibition will travel from Vincennes to Corydon and remain on view there through June 29th. It’s final destination will be the Statehouse in Indianapolis in December. Admission to see the exhibit is free and it’s open to the public.
