The Knox County Commissioners approved a workforce development grant that will bring industrial and heavy equipment training to Knox County. The Southern Indiana Development Commission is the grant administrator of this developmental program that is funded through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs. Vincennes University has been selected as the certified trainer because of the location and equipment available. The positions that students will be trained for free on include heavy equipment operator and industrial maintenance.

Rex Knight, Project Coordinator for the Southern Indiana Development Commission, says there are some stipulations for the grant.

Classes begin June 6th for the industrial maintenance training and June 16th for the position of heavy equipment operator. At the completion of the program students will earn a certificate. If you are interested in the free schooling, please contact your local WorkOne.
