Betty J. Blann, 88, died Tuesday

 

 

 

Betty J. Blann, 88, passed away April 19, 2016, at Gentle Care Nursing Home.

Betty had worked at Hamilton Glass, the Knox County Courthouse, and retired from Hoosier Gas, about the same time that it became SIGECO. After many years of volunteer work at Good Samaritan Hospital, she was asked to work there, and did so until her early 80’s. Betty also babysat for several family members. She was a member of the First Church of God.

Early in her adult life, she was invited into the home of her brother, Rex and Lois Blann. She lived there many years, and became a second mother to their daughters, Jennifer Linneweber and her husband, Wally, and Lori Schwartz and her husband, Kurt, and grandmother to their children, Scott and Kyle Linneweber, Michelle Stafford, and Alicen Williams.

Born January 27, 1928, in Vincennes, she was the daughter of Rollie and Fidelis (Owens) Blann. Her parents; six brothers; four sisters; and her niece, Jennifer Linneweber, preceded her.

Surviving is her daughter, Carla Rusch and her husband, Mike, of Vincennes; her grandchildren, Jill Horsley and her husband, Aaron, Doug Rusch and his wife, Valerie, and Nick Rusch and his wife, Courtney; great-grandchildren, EmmaLouRusch, Jonah Rusch, Jeremiah Rusch, and Luke Rusch; her sisters, Sue Cox of Houston, TX, and Kay Gilham of Sullivan, IN; and her brothers, Bill Blann and his wife, Patty, of Brownstown, IN, and Harold Blann and his wife, Mary, of Niles, MI.

Friends may visit with Betty’s family from 4:00 – 7:00 on Friday, and from 9:30 – 11:00 on Saturday, at Goodwin Funeral Home. Her funeral will be conducted on Saturday, at 11:00, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
