William Lee “Bill” Waggoner, age 84 of Lawrenceville, passed away Sunday,

William Lee “Bill” Waggoner, age 84 of Lawrenceville, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 in Lawrenceville at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. He was born June 6, 1931 in Russell Township to Roy Russell Waggoner and his wife Belvia (Benson) Waggoner.

Bill was very proud of his service to his country. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the local VFW and American Legion. Bill had worked as a mechanic and farmed for many years. Bill was a member of the Allison Prairie Church of the Brethren for many years. He began attending the United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville when he moved into town.

Surviving family includes: two daughters- Candice Harrison and her husband Kenny of Olney, IL and Cynthia Adler and her husband Larry of Evansville, IN: three brothers- Roy Waggoner of Wilmington, NC; Ed Waggoner of Newburgh, IN, and Roger Waggoner of Russellville, IL: one sister- Elizabeth Bonham of Eureka, IL: four grandchildren- Bo Harrison, Kahla Dunker, Michael Elliot, and Michelle Shelton: three great-grandchildren- Lily and Liam Elliot, and Garrett Dunker: and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Martha Pierson.

A funeral service for William Lee “Bill” Waggoner will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Cunningham-Young Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until service time. Burial will take place in Centerville Cemetery. Military rites will be given at the cemetery.
