Bicknell City Council hires firm to repair storm drains and discusses Casey’s building

BICKNELL WATER DRAINING

The city of Bicknell has awarded a contract to Hendrixson Concrete Construction to repair a couple of storm water drains and sidewalk curbs in the downtown area. A few water drains are in shambles and the issue has become a matter of safety for Bicknell residents. One of the drains is being held up by only a barrel underneath. The two drains Hendrixson will repair are located at Third and Franklin streets, as well as Third and Freeland Avenue.

Bicknell Mayor Thomas Estabrook says there will also be work done on the sidewalks to make them more accessible.

Estabrook says the budget for this project is approximately $10,000 and it should only take a few days of work to complete. The task was approved by both the city council and the board of public works.

BICKNELL CASEYS BUILDING

The city of Bicknell is awaiting the results of two appraisals before liquidating the vacated Casey’s gas station. The city is required by law to get the two appraisals before they can set an approximate price of what they hope to sale for. The city is planning on holding an auction at a later date that will coincide with the transaction of other belongings owned by the town. The Indiana Environmental Management Agency and Casey’s have set restrictions on the estate for future owners. The IEMA won’t allow a day care or senior citizen center to be located at the property. Bicknell will soon announce the exact date and location of the auction.
