Newly appointed Lieutenant Governor Eric Holcomb was in Vincennes yesterday speaking with members of the local Rotary club.

As Lieutenant Governor, Holcomb oversees six agencies including the Office of Rural and Community Affairs also known as OCRA.

He says the agency attempts to assist smaller communities in the state with strategic planning to accomplish long term goals.

Holcomb cited Kimmell Park in Vincennes as an example of a local asset that’s being upgraded in order to draw more people into the community. He says OCRA officials can assist communities with planning and securing financing for similar projects.

Governor Pence tabbed Holcomb as Indiana’s next lieutenant governor after Sue Ellspermann decided to step down to pursue the presidency of Ivy Tech Community College.

Holcomb says he jumped at the opportunity to serve the state. Holcomb also told Rotarians that he considers Vincennes his second home because this is where his mother and father met while attending classes at Vincennes University.
