NEW VINCENNES FIREMAN

The Vincennes Fire Department welcomed their newest rookie fireman to the team.

At last night’s Board of Works meeting, Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum and Fire Chief Sonny Pinkstaff swore in Adam Yochum.

Pinkstaff commended Yochum for his volunteer service as a firefighter which extends over 10 years.

He also praised his numerous certifications including being certified nationally as a firefighter.

FIRE DEPARTMENT TRAINING

The Vincennes Fire Department is in the process of training with new equipment.

The Department just acquired 38 new breathing apparatuses, due to the old equipment being defective.

Battalion Chief John Streeter says the new gear is much safer than the old.

Since the old gear was defective the fire department wasn’t required to pay for the new breathing apparatuses.

The new face masks allow for better communication between firefighters and the Incident Commander in the case of a fire emergency.

Fire Chief Sonny Pinksatff says that with this new equipment the department now has the highest level of safety set by the National Fire Protection Association.

The new equipment is now being used by firefighters who have been trained.
