A coroner ruled the death of an Indiana toddler who disappeared from her father’s home was a homicide by asphyxiation. Owen County Coroner Stan Frank says an autopsy Friday confirmed that the body found by searcher Thursday night was that of 1-year-old Shaylyn Ammerman. Police say Shaylyn’s body was found near a river near Gosport just a few miles from her father’s home in Spencer, where she was reported missing Wednesday morning. Police have jailed a 22-year Spencer man on preliminary charges in connection with Shaylyn’s disappearance. Authorities say her death is still under investigation.
