Merrydyth C. Myers, 85, passed away at 5:10 pm on March 19, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Merrydyth was born in Knox County on February 5, 1931 the daughter of Arch and Belle (Williams) Day. She married Donald Myers on October 15, 1949.

 

Merrydyth was a 1949 graduate of Monroe City High School was a lifetime member of Walnut Grove Church. She worked for South Knox Elementary School for twenty-six years.  She belonged to the WSCS Methodist Women’s Group and Beta Sigma Pi. Her biggest joy in life was being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Merrydyth enjoyed sewing for her daughters and granddaughters, traveling, site seeing, parties, dancing, and most of all laughter and fun as well as family get togethers.

 

Survivors include her husband, Donald Myers of Monroe City, daughter’s, Penny Bishop of England, Prudy Wynn and her husband Bob of Oakland, IL; son, Drew Myers and his wife Lori of Monroe City; son-in-law, Larry Deckard of Wheatland; sister, Phyllis Lanning of Monroe City; brother, D.J. Day and his wife Marlis of Monroe City, grandchildren, Gail Kent and her husband Ben, Brady Deckard and his wife Connie, Aaron Deckard and his wife Amie, Ian Wynn, Claire Hancher and husband James, Colby Deckard, Emily Tillis and her husband Eric, Maddie Burris and her husband Lester, Hannah Karl and her husband Joel, Libby Myers; and eleven great grandchildren. Merrydyth was preceded in death by her parents, son, Gregory Don Myers, daughter, Peggy Marie Deckard; sisters, Martha Lee Harrell, Joy Burnett and brother, Sheldon Day.

 

Funeral services for Merrydyth will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Walnut Grove Church with Rev. Brenda Wick officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Friends may visit with Merrydyth’s family on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 4-8 pm at Goodwin Funeral Home and from 9:30 am until the service time of 10:30 am Wednesday at Walnut Grove Church.
