The Vincennes Redevelopment Commission has committed 315-thousand dollars towards improvements at Four Lakes Park.

Parks Superintendent Steve Beaman presented his wish list to the R-D-C yesterday which includes repaving the parking lot behind Hill Field, redoing the Shelter Houses and restrooms.

R-D-C Board Member Marc McNeece made a motion to proceed with repaving the parking lot as the first step. The estimated price tag for the work is 169-thousand dollars. But City Engineer John Sprague indicated that is only a rough estimate by the architect and the cost could be less. Sprague says the work could be included in a bid package he’s working on for other paving projects in the city this summer.

The R-D-C will consider the remaining items on the Parks Department’s list on an individual basis.

Beaman says he’s received nothing but positive feedback from residents in the area surrounding 4-Lakes Park including one offer to host a fundraiser to pay for items like new benches in the park.
