Knox County will join with other CASA Volunteers across the state to show their support for the program during CASA Day at the Statehouse in Indianapolis today (Monday).

Dena Held, Director of the Knox County CASA program continues to stress the need for volunteers to represent abused and neglected children in the community. She says even though they want people to sign up, its not always a good fit for every individual.

Held says persons interested in becoming a CASA Voluneer can stop by her office at 105 Broadway in Vincennes or go online to Child Advocate Network-DOT-Org.

She says they offer a pre-service training program at various times through out the year.

Held says today’s event at the statehouse will allow CASA Volunteers to interact with legislators to tell their story about important issues facing children.

There are nearly 35-hundred CASA Volunteers statewide. However, there are still over 5-thousand children who are waiting for a CASA Volunteer to represent them.
