Efforts are continuing to make downtown Vincennes a destintation point for residents and visitors. Mayor Joe Yochum says the city will be applying for a 400-thousand dollar grant later this year that would be used to improve the exterior of buildings fronting Main Street. Yochum says the idea grew out of the downtown planning committee’s efforts to revitalize Main Street.

Yochum indicated that there have some interest shown by some downtown merchants in improving the exterior of their buildings if funding became available.

The Vincennes Board of Works this morning received one bid for architectural services if the city is awarded the grant. Trio Architecture, Incorporated out of Indianapolis was the only firm to submit a request for credentials. The board took the bid under advisement pending a further review.
