Indiana Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann has stepped down as the state’s second-in-command.

Both Democratic and Republican lawmakers honored their now former state Senate president as she exited the chamber podium for the last time Wednesday. That podium.

Ellsperman thanked house members for their work and for starting her political career has a state representative….

Ellspermann announced last month she would resign to pursue a position as Ivy Tech Community College’s president.

Ellspermann became lieutenant governor in 2013 after just two years as a member of the Indiana House.

State lawmakers are voting to confirm Ellspermann’s successor, Eric Holcomb today. Holcomb was nominated by Governor Mike Pence as the state’s chief executive prepares for a tough election year with former state GOP chairman as his new running-mate.
