Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum is preparing for his State of the City address in which he’ll outline his goals for the coming year.

Speaking on WVUT’s 22-Magazine program, Yochum says he hopes to continue improvements to city streets. He says the city is putting together a list of streets which they hope to receive additional funding for resurfacing and repairs.

Yochum also plans to ask the city council for 50-thousand dollars to fund the Loft Program. He says the idea is to try and attract more people downtown by providing building owners with seed money to turn unused space into living quarters for rent. Yochum says the city will provide matching grants of 10-thousand dollars to property owners willing to put up a matching amount.

Yochum says the Vincennes Urban Enterprise Association will administrate the loft program and building owners can apply for grants up to 10-thousand dollars.

Yochum plans to present his State of the City address on Monday, March 14th following the Vincennes City Council’s meeting.
