James M. “Jim” Cornwell

James M. “Jim” Cornwell, age 75 of Sumner, passed away at his home on Thursday, February 18, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. He was born May 21, 1940 in Robinson to Samuel Wesley Cornwell and his wife Emmie Dunlap Cornwell.

He married Caroline Price, and she survives.

Jim proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He retired Farm Services after many years.

Surviving family includes: his wife Caroline Cornwell of Sumner: three daughters- Teresa Schatz of Vincennes, IN, Tammy Guerrero and husband Cory of Sumner, and Debbie Frederick and significant other Roy McDowell of Sumner: one son- Mike Cornwell of New Hampshire: five grandchildren: and five great-grandchildren.

Jim’s was raised with four sisters and one brother.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandchild, and one great-great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 11:15 a.m. at Sumner Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Military rites to be given at the cemetery.
