Well Done ! Those were the words of Kemper C-P-A’s Wayne Thomann after reviewing a list of projects accomplished by the Vincennes Redevelopment Commission in 2015.

Thomann says the R-D-C spent over 4-million dollars on a wide range of projects including resurfacing Second Street between Main and Hart Streets. The project also included the installation of new curbs, sidewalks, street lighting and inclusion of a bicycle lane. The R-D-C also funded ongoing repairs to the Wabash River Levee to insure the city maintains its flood insurance protection through FEMA.

R-D-C members are looking at several more projects in the coming year including re-starting work on the Main Street project. Several attempts have been made to secure state funding to widen Main from the U.S. 41 overpass out to Clark Middle School, but have failed. Board President Brad Dale indicated they’d like to offer incentives to local contractors for new housing starts.

Dale and other board members have indicated there is a need for more high end housing in the city to attract people to Vincennes.
