The Vincennes Water Utilities is planning on nearly 9-million dollars in upgrades to its drinking water and waste water treatment facilities. U-S-B General Manager Kirk Bouchie says water customers can expect to see an increase in their monthly bill to help pay for the improvements. Just how much of an increase has yet to be determined.

The improvements to the water plant include construction of a new chemical treatment facility, adding a second pipeline from the city’s well field that will increase capacity and ensure a backup line is in place in the event a malfunction occurs.

Bouchie says plans also call for improvements at the wastewater treatment plant to remove phosphates from the water. The U-S-B will have to issue bonds to pay for the improvements. The work is expected to get underway later this year.
