ISP Stops Car for Speeding, Results in Felony Arrest and Secret Service Investigation

A man was jailed in Greene County for possessing a skimming device.

State Police say they stopped 20-year-old Jacob Smith of New Mexico on I69 Tuesday afternoon.  They say he was going over 100 miles an  hour. He was arrested his vehicle impounded.

That’s when they began to realize that Smith may be involved in the recent findings of two skimming devices located in Bloomington on gas pumps. The car was a rental in which Smith and a passenger did not have authorization to drive.  After obtaining a search warrant credit card skimming equipment was located in the car along with a loaded gun.  There were also four gas pump master keys in the car.

Smith is charged with possessing a skimming device as weapons possession without a license and reckless driving.

The US Secret Service is being notified of the arrest.
