State Senator. Eric Bassler of Washington recently filed legislation to improve Hoosier students’ safety while traveling to and from school.

Senate Bill 326 would allow school bus drivers or monitors to provide a signed affidavit stating that they witnessed someone commit the misdemeanor of passing a school bus while the stop arm signal device was extended.

Bassler introduced a similar measure during the the last session of the General Assembly. Bassler says the bill would allow police to give a citation to individuals who violate the school bus stop arm if a signed affidavit has been completed.
