The Vincennes City Council is expected to act this evening on a resolution of support turning over Kimmell Park to Vincennes University to manage. Council had tabled action on the measure two weeks ago until the status of the Vincennes Boat Club was clarified. Since then Boat Club members have signed an agreement with the City and VU officials to relocate to Pearl City. The city has agreed to provide the Boat Club with land for construction of a new clubhouse.

Mayor Joe Yochum has also arranged for members to receive funding through the city’s revolving loan fund to assist with construction of the clubhouse. As part of the agreement V-U has agreed to cover up to 20-thousand dollars of any construction loan.

VU is planning to invest over 2-point-4 million dollars in the park. Work is expected to begin after the first of the year after the Board of Works deeds the property over to VU.

The City Council meets at six this evening at City Hall.
