The Indiana General Assembly is set to reconvene on January 5th, Among the many issues lawmakers will attempt to deal with is the sale of psuedoephdrine which is a major ingreident in making methamphetamine.

State Senator Eric Bassler says there are two competing bills that have been proposed to address the issue. One would require Hoosiers to get a prescription from their doctor, the other would place the responsibility on the pharmacist for dispensing the medication. Bassler says no matter what comes out of this session….he believes the key to stopping drug abuse is education.

How to maintain Indiana’s aging infrastructure will be another issue to come up before the legislature. Bassler says they need to be cautious about raiding that account. He says there be a downturn in the economy state government will need those reserves in order to operate.
