Democrats fill open positions on Saturday

Knox County Democrats met over the weekend to fill 3-seats to County offices. Brian Downen was chosen by precinct committeeman to fill a seat on the Knox County Council. Downen will replace Terry Johnson who announced he was stepping down at the end of this month. Downen beat out four other candidates for the job including former county councilman Greg Buss. Johnson;s seat on the county council will be up for re-election next year.

Meanwhile, Brenda Hall was selected to fill Sharon Duke’s term as Knox County Treasurer. Duke won election to the Vincennes City Clerk-Treasurer’s office in the November General Election. Angie Goff will succeed Thomas Estabrook as Vigo Township Trustee after Estabrook won election as Bicknell Mayor. Both Hall and Goff ran unopposed for their positions. The newly appointed officials will take office on January 1st.
