The Vincennes Redevelopment Commission has committed 200-thousand to stabilizing two buildings downtown. The request came from INVIN President Steve Miller who is looking to make necessary repairs to the new New Moon and Pantheon Theaters. Miller referred to the two as anchor buildings for downtown. He says they want to fix the buildings up and make them marketable to show prospective businesses.

Miller says that INVIN is also in the process of raising additional money for the renovation work he says repairs to the Pantheon alone are estimated at over a million dollars. RDC member Tim Smith says he would like to see an itemized accounting of the work there paying for. In Smith’s words, he doesn’t want it to go for just a coat of paint. Miller indicated that in addition to replacing the roof on both buildings….they also want to upgrade the electrical wiring.

The R-D-C will provide 100-thousand dollars to INVIN next year and 50-thousand dollars after that for two years. At this time, Miller says they have no firm prospects for either building at this time.
