Larry R. Chansler, age 67, of rural Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at his residence.  He was born November 26, 1948, in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of Harold Nelson and Edith Frances (Miller) Chansler.  He married Rita Edmondson on December 24, 1976 and she survives.

Larry worked for Golden Rule Insurance for 24 years until his retirement.  He also worked in the carpentry business and enjoyed woodworking.

Larry was a veteran with the United States Navy, having served in Vietnam.  He was a member of the Hi-Way Church of God where he ran the sound system.   Larry enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities, as well as fishing and mushroom hunting.

Preceding Larry in death were his father, Harold Sr., and two brothers, Robert and Harold, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Rita, of rural Lawrenceville; his mother, Frances, of rural Bridgeport; three daughters, Shannon (Michael) Meehan of F rench Lick, Indiana, Angela (Brad) Getts of Garrett, Indiana, and Cassie (Joel) Mills of rural Lawrenceville; two brothers, Steve (Molly Jo) Chansler of rural Lawrenceville and Charles “Chuck” (Barb) Chansler of Saskatoon, Canada; one sister, Rita Diane (Pete) Davis of Noble, Illinois and eight grandchildren, Logan, Morgan, Marissa, T.J., Haley, Mason, Makeilah, and Zaykk. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday at the Hi-Way Church of God in Lawrenceville.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Saturday at the church.

Burial will be in May Chapel Cemetery.
