Oaktown residents injured in US 41 crash in Sullivan County

Two Knox County residents were injured in an 8:40-am crash in Sullivan County Tuesday.

State Police and Sullivan County authorities responded to the two vehicle accident in the northbound lanes of US 41 at State Road 58.

Investigators reported that 75-year-old Charles Scott of Merom was east on 58 and tried to cross 41.  He drove is ’94 S-10 into the patch of a northbound 2010 Dodge SUV driven by 62-year-old Frances Harvey of Oaktown.  Harvey and her mother, 88-year-old Melba Haythorne also of Oaktown were taken to Sullivan Hospital with injuries.  Scott was treated and released at the scene.  He was cited for failure to yield.

Authorities say everyone was wearing seatbelts.
