Knox County’s Bicentennial Committee is still looking for persons interested in carrying the state Bicentennial torch when it travels through the county next year.

Committee Co-Chair Mark Hill says they’ve only 7 applications thus far. He says the committee is seeking a cross-section of people representing all of Knox County to serve as torchbearers.

Online nomination forms are available at Indiana 2016-dot-org. Printed forms are available at the Vincennes/Knox County Tourism and Visitors Bureau. The nomination period ends January 31st

Hill says that Knox County will be the third stop on the Bicentennial Torch’s 24-hundred mile journey which will end up in Indianapolis.

Committee members are in the planning stages of putting together a program to commemorate the event.
