Clark’s Crossing was the site for the final community forum on the status of the Vincennes School Corporation’s four elementary schools. Superintendent Greg Parsley says they wanted to show school patrons that it is possible to take older buildings and re-purpose them.

Parsley says the school corporation wants to do something similar with its aging elementary schools. While giving the buildings a facelift, Parsley was asked why there were no plans to build additional classrooms when some schools like Franklin are already overcrowded.

He says one of the things the school board will consider is not allowing students to transfer outside of their designated school district.

The cost for renovation is estimated to cost 36 and a half million dollars and would paid for through the existing tax levee.

Parsley says no action on the plan is expected at this month’s school board meeting. He says more than likely that will occur either in December or early next year.
