David “Digger” Lee Bunte, 70, Edwardsport, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 at his residence. Digger was born June 9, 1945, in Knox County, the son of William and Pearl (Foreman) Bunte. He married Susan French on January 31, 1962. He was a retired coal miner for AMAX Coal Company, Wabash mine after 30 years. He was a member of Mariah Creek Christian Church, UMWA, and the French Club.
Digger is survived by his wife, Susan; sons, Tim Bunte and wife, Lisa of Edwardsport, Rod Bunte of Edwardsport, and Tony Bunte and wife, Amy of Edwardsport; twelve grandchildren, B. Jaye Bunte, Bryan Bunte, Jayda Reed, Blythe Bunte, Brooklyn Bunte, Levi Bunte, Logan Bunte, Hunter Bunte, Mariah Reed, Braelynn Reed, Brylee Bunte, and Trent Bunte; sister, Jean Messel of Bicknell; and brother, Joe Bunte and wife, Shirley of Bruceville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Jerry Bunte.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 31, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Bicknell Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Mariah Creek Christian Church with Pastor Matt Hoffman officiating.
