Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum says the 2nd Street project is winding down. He says the street should be re-open to traffic witihin the next week or two.
The project adds new paving, sidewalks and street lighting to 2nd between Main and Hart Streets. It originally started out as a federally funded project. Yochum says had it not been for an exchange program offered through the state, the project wouldn’t have gotten underway until next year.
Yochum says the city was actually able to save some money through the exchange program and were able to do some additional paving of side streets off of second.
Contractors are currently marking the street for striping.
By next week weather permitting, Yochum says 2nd should be completely finished except for a few extra beautification touches.
