Knox County’s U-S 41 Industrial Park is now “Shovel Ready” . During a brief ceremony held Thursday, Geoff Schomacker with the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs presented Knox County officials with a certificate designating land within the industrial park as a Gold Certified Site.
While the term “Shovel Ready” may not mean much to the average citizen, Schomacker says when companies are searching for land to locate their business on, they want to be assured that there are no problems with the site.
Schomacker says Knox County was a pilot program for submitting the online application process. He says state officials helped shepherd local officials through a process which included submitting data on the property that prospective businesses are searching for.
